RANGE RULES:

The official range rules can be found in the "Bylaws of the South Berwick Rod and Gun Club". Those rules if different than below, supersede what is summarized on this page.

Simple Gun Safety:

  1. Treat all guns as if they were loaded.
  2. Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Be sure of your target and know what is behind it.
  4. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  5. Never handle firearms while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

General Range Rules:

All firearms must be either unloaded or holstered when moved out of this zone.

In addition to the rules printed above, adhere to any additional rules posted in the ranges.

Rifle/Pistol Range Rules:

Pistol Use On Rifle Range:

Members may use handguns on the Rifle range if they meet ALL of the following requirements:
  1. Handgun must be of a type that would be used for big game hunting, chambered in one of the following: .500 Mag, .480 Ruger, .460 S&W, .454 Casull, .45 Long Colt, .44 Mag, .41 Mag, 10mm Auto, .357 Mag, or a chambering normally found in a rifle. For example: Thompson Center single shots, Savage Strikers, and similar handguns.
  2. Handguns used on the Rifle Range must have a minimum barrel length of 4 inches and must be capable of reasonable accuracy so all bullets will impact the target board and then the berm behind the target at the distance fired.
